Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information I collect through marklockyer.com (“Tame The Drama Llama”), why I collect it, and what you can do about it.
Who I am
This website is run by Mark Lockyer, an AASW Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. When this policy says “I”, “me” or “my”, it means Mark Lockyer.
If you have any questions about your privacy, email me at mark@marklockyer.com.
What I collect and why
I only collect what I need. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
- eBook sign-up: your first name and email address, so I can send you the free eBook and add you to my email list (see below).
- Contact form: your first name, phone number, email address and, if you choose, a short message about what you’re looking for, so I can reply to you.
- Messages you send me: anything you share by email, phone or WhatsApp, so I can respond and, if you’d like, arrange a session.
- Booking and payment details: the details needed to arrange and pay for a session. Payment details are provided when you book. If I offer online card payments in future, they will be processed by a secure payment provider such as Stripe, and I won’t see or store your full card details.
- Technical information: like most websites, the site’s server records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This helps keep the site running and secure. My web host keeps these logs for a limited time for security and maintenance.
I don’t use analytics or advertising tracking on this site. If that changes, I’ll update this policy.
You don’t have to give me your details, but if you don’t I may not be able to send you the eBook, reply to you or arrange a session. You’re welcome to ask a general question without giving your full name.
My email list
When you download the free eBook, you’ll be added to my email list. I use it to send you the eBook and occasional updates, such as news about my upcoming program and founding-member offers. I won’t bombard you, and I will never sell your details.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing me and asking to be removed.
Sessions and health information
If you book a session, you may share personal and health information with me, either during the session or beforehand. That information is kept confidential and handled in line with my professional obligations as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files that websites store in your browser. This site keeps its own use of them to a minimum:
- The site itself doesn’t set cookies for ordinary visitors. Cookies are used only if you log in to the site.
- The site uses your browser’s temporary session storage for small practical things, for example to remember that you’ve already seen the eBook pop-up so it doesn’t keep appearing. This is cleared when you close your browser.
- Some content on the site comes from other companies, and they may set their own cookies or collect information about your device (see below).
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some embedded content may not work properly if you do.
Embedded content and third-party services
Some parts of the site rely on services run by other companies. When you use those parts, the company may receive information such as your IP address and details about your device and browser. Their use of that information is covered by their own privacy policies.
- YouTube (Google): videos on the site are embedded from YouTube. When a page with a video loads, or when you play a video, YouTube may set cookies and collect information about your viewing.
- Google reCAPTCHA: the eBook and contact forms use reCAPTCHA to protect against spam. It collects information about your device and how you use the page. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Google Fonts: some pages load fonts from Google’s servers, which means your IP address is sent to Google.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you tap “Message me on WhatsApp”, you’ll leave this site and use WhatsApp. Messages and sessions on WhatsApp are covered by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
- Social media links: links to my YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
Behind the scenes, I also use:
- Website hosting: the site and database (form entries, email list) are stored with VentraIP Australia, on servers in Australia.
- Stripe: if I offer online card payments, Stripe will process them. Stripe’s privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy) applies, and it may process data in the United States and other countries.
- WordPress plugins: Fluent Forms (forms), FluentCRM (email list), FluentSMTP (sending email), UpdraftPlus (backups) and WPCode (adding site code). These store data in the site’s own database and don’t send it to the plugin makers, except that UpdraftPlus copies backups to Google Drive (see below).
- Email delivery: emails from the site are sent through the site’s own mail server (SMTP at mail.marklockyer.com) via FluentSMTP.
- Backups: Weekly backups of the site, which may include form entries and email list data, are stored securely in Google Drive (Google). Backups sent there may be stored in the United States or other countries where Google operates.
Overseas transfers
Your information may be stored or processed in countries other than your own, including Australia (where the web host’s servers are) and the United States (Google services). Where this happens, I take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that protect personal information.
Security and how long I keep information
I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. These include keeping the site and its plugins up to date, using spam protection on forms and limiting who can access the site’s admin area. No website or online service is completely secure, though, so I can’t promise that information sent over the internet will always be safe.
I keep personal information only for as long as I need it:
- email list details: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them;
- contact form entries and messages: for up to 12 months after my last contact with you, unless they become part of a session record.
- session and health records: for the period required by my professional and legal obligations.
When I no longer need information, I take reasonable steps to delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your rights: access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it if it’s wrong or out of date. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to ask me to delete your information, to stop or limit how I use it, to give you a copy in a common format, or to withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing.
To make a request, email mark@marklockyer.com. I may need to confirm your identity first. I’ll aim to respond within 30 days. If I can’t do what you’ve asked, I’ll explain why, unless the law says I can’t.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your personal information, please email me first at mark@marklockyer.com so I can try to put it right. I’ll aim to respond within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the Australian privacy regulator, at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
If you live outside Australia, you can also contact the privacy or data protection regulator where you live.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time, for example if I start using a new service. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
About this policy: this page was prepared from a template for general information. It isn’t legal advice.
